We’re excited to announce the release of some nifty updates to the site today. As usual, we’ve been listening to your feedback, and have added some user-friendly features and made some changes that will enhance the Revver experience. Here is our laundry list of small but awesome changes:
First, we’re proud to announce that we are the first online video service to offer a closed-captioning solution to our users. We’ve partnered with Project readOn, an excellent free service that provides user-requested closed captioning for the hard of hearing community - they do movies, tv shows, etc and are now branching out into user generated content (Revver is their first). How does it work? Simple - just click the “closed captioning” button below a video - if captioning already exists, it will begin streaming in synch with the video. If it doesn’t, you can request it and you’ll be notified by Project readOn when captioning has been completed. Sweet! Revver has had great success empowering creators, and now with the help of Project readOn we’re empowering viewers as well. Donations help them keep this going - find out how you can support the cause here.
We’ve also beefed up our analytics with some new graphs and parameters - we can’t detail all the changes here, but you’ll find that they’re pretty straightforward. Some highlights:
- -Added flexibility to the analytics overview graphs. Users can now create graphs of revenue and views for their most profitable, most viewed, most recent, longest, or entire library of videos over several user-defined time periods.
-Added an “effectiveness” graph to the events view. This is a quick-reference graph for monitoring the effectiveness of your videos - the graph shows the ratio of completed views to initiated views, calculating the the percentage of viewers that made it all the way to the end.
-Added a super handy graph and “export as CSV” function to the calendar view. Now you can export your monthly stats to your spreadsheet editor of choice and mash the data any way you want.
And another much-needed addition - we’ve added fields for links and credits to all video pages, so you can now credit your team and link back to your site right on the video page. This will help bring new viewers to your site, where you control the branding and presentation of your content.
We’ve also updated contact lists to include the latest video published from contacts in the last two weeks. It’s a great way to keep abreast of what’s new with your contacts.
Last but not least, we’ve cleaned up the quick-submit buttons in the share box to focus on the ones that make the most sense for you guys - Digg, del.icio.us, Furl, and Facebook. Especially cool, we’ve added a dynamic “digg it” tag to show how many digs a video has.
And then there’s little things like simplified navigation in the dashboard, metadata added to the Video of the Day, and viewcounts added to thumbnails.
Whew, it may seem like a lot, but trust us that all the changes are super straightforward and intuitive. If you have any questions about any of these changes, head on over to the forums and we’ll help you out.

this is a great site! you’ve got a fine dashboard with lots of good stats. I put 50+ short joke videos up recently and $$$ are mounting. but when you put that many up it’s time consuming to delete your notifications of their review one at a time. and sometimes i have to use the back button instead of a return button from an edit. keep improving things because your competition is mounting out there but if your members see things continually getting better they’ll be very supportive. I’m on ning.com with my home page and they’re really great about responding to suggestions so their community is very loyal. now you just need to market and PR revver to everyone.

Comment by unclealex 07.09.07 @ 5:25 pmI’ve yet to have a close look at the new features, because the first thing that struck me was that the digg count on my videos has been reset!
Any info?

Sounds like a big update. The analystics sound really useful and I look forward to being able to analyse those once I get some videos up. Thanks!
