You may have noticed that Revver embeds are not currently working in MySpace. Previously embedded videos are still playable but you can’t embed any new ones (since late last week).
MySpace has often been criticized for blocking 3rd party services without providing notice or justification to their users (YouTube, Buzznet, etc.). Just last week, Giga Om predicted more of this for 2007.
We can’t say for sure what’s up yet but we’re working with MySpace to fix it. We know it’s important to the Revver community to be able to share videos on MySpace just as it’s important to MySpace users to be able to share content from all over the web. We’ll keep you posted here and in the forums.
In the meantime, you might consider sending MySpace a message requesting that they allow you to share your Revver videos there. Tell them you value the open sharing of media online and that you hope they will do their best to provide the most options to their community.

[…] We’re being super cautious about reporting the tools that MySpace blocks, but it does indeed seem that Revver embeds are no longer working on MySpace today. Revver has been blocked in the past and then restored (so has YouTube), but today the Revver folks have pointed out that since late last week, new embeds aren’t being displayed on the site. We checked, and it’s still happening now. […]
Pingback by MySpace Blocks Revver? - Mashable! 01.23.07 @ 10:15 amIt might be the fact that revver content can be delivered in .mov format.
recently there was a .mov exploit going around. They could have banned revver content to help spare their members from poisioned mov files.
I still think its lame. I love revver I want to see it grow, thats why i picked revver over youtube, myspace and google to host my video files with.
Comment by Josh Giese 01.23.07 @ 12:56 pmwell this just f**king sucks! this is devistating for myspace and for revver. I know myspace is free, but its also a community and we should be represented with some sort of rights here.
Cary is right. its MYspace. not THEIRspace.
I was among the first to have a myspace account when the website was only a few months old and i’ve always respected the freedoms within the system. and now that they have a board of directors that can’t think of anything but the dollar, myspace is and will destroy its self as people look to its competitors to express themselves thru their profiles.
Comment by beefbaloney 01.23.07 @ 1:24 pmOh you know I be angry, baby, I needs to advertise my mess on myspace, that’s the only way to get the job done, and if myspace ain’t finna cooperate, I’m finna have to slap somebody.
Comment by Billy 01.23.07 @ 1:45 pmI say everyone needs to send as many complaint emails to mysapace as they can until they fix the problem!
Comment by Leigh Oliver 01.23.07 @ 4:15 pmSend al the complaints here:
you can email customer service or tom.
Comment by beefbaloneys 01.23.07 @ 6:47 pmWhat!!!! What a bunch of losers. Why would they do such a thing? We should all blog about what myspace is doing and try to create buzz about it no?
Comment by Stan 01.23.07 @ 10:18 pm[…] Hey folks. No hard news yet on the MySpace thing. We should know more tomorrow. But a few of you have written in asking what you can do to help get Revver back up and running on MySpace. […]
Pingback by Revver blog 01.24.07 @ 4:18 pm[…] Still, some sites are seeing what look to be permanent bans from the site. Vidilife, Stickam and Revver widgets cannot be placed on the site, and MySpace hasn’t said why, or if they’d be let back on. These services are at a loss as to what to do - in a recent blog post on the Revver blog they ask for users to email MySpace and request that the service be turned back on. […]
Pingback by Imeem Blocked From MySpace 02.25.07 @ 1:27 am[…] MySpace has been acting a bit odd all year. Last month all Flash embeds on the site were turned off for a few hours. Some people speculated that they were testing the waters, seeing what kind of backlash they would see from user complaints. MySpace PR flatly denied these speculations, however, saying it was nothing more than a bug. Still, some sites are seeing what look to be permanent bans from the site. MySpace is not very “my” the way they do things. This is so frustrating! We’ll now I just have to spend more time building my Revver.com channel.
Thanks for the info.
