Yes folks, weird is the new wonderful - or at least that was the conclusion we came to last time we featured Weird TV. The latest installment of Weird America, Weird TV’s “journey into America’s crawlspace,” features an interview with Mark Mothersbaugh, founder of new wave band Devo.
Far more than just a kitschy one-hit wonder band (Whip it!), Mothersbaugh talks about Devo’s roots in the conceptual and visual arts, as well as their future-primitive concept of de-evolution and how it was shaped by the Kent State shootings of 1970. Interesting stuff indeed!

Hey, Mr. T lives - and in a *big* way! Don’t you know he fought cancer, and is now the subject/star of a new teevee show? Besides, Devo rules, and were (are) much more than “Whip It”. I’ll never forget that Xmas Eve ‘89 (’90?) concert…Boy, mom was pissed I hadn’t stayed home…
