You may have seen this post and this post about the last screening event, but what happens inside the screening room is only half the story. Outside, the booze is flowing, the tunes are blasting, and The Chola is intimidating our guests with psychotic threats. Check out the cameos by our very own unclealex and broadway.
Our next event is penciled in for a Thursday in early June, so all you out-of-staters should start saving your euros for gas money.
Just because Quarterlife failed abysmally on TV doesn’t mean it isn’t any good - everybody knows that the general TV-watching public are a stupid lot and that their opinions only matter in an “opposites day” sort of way, i.e. what the public likes sucks and what they don’t like is usually pretty cool (please don’t take offense couch potato, this is my attempt at humor).
Quarterlife, which TV-watchers didn’t embrace, is actually one of the more entertaining and well put together web series out there, and the social network they’ve set up around the show at quarterlife.com is a vibrant community of people sharing their creativity. So don’t listen to those questionably representative things called “ratings” and go check it out for yourself.
Here’s a rad little ditty from Dntel (Rhymes with “Intel”), arguably the better half of the uber popular Postal Service. It’s a bit dark, but it’s Friday, so I think we can take it.
This is the hundred and ninety first time that Stefan Bucher has sat down at his desk, dabbed some ink on paper, blown it into a funky pattern with a can of air, turned it into an amazingly imaginative creature with some black markers, and filmed the whole thing. A whole community of monster lovers has grown around these awesome little videos on Stefan’s blog, DailyMonster.com. Hop over there, and join in.
Ever been curious about the much maligned world of the “emo”? Well now is your chance - Eddie Emo and Emo World TV are here to educate you on all the maudlin emo things you always wanted to know about but were too emotionally frigid to explore. Today’s video emo-fies celebrities, and I think it should be a regular segment on Emo World TV because everybody looks, um, better as an emo.
So, unless your power was out all weekend, you probably saw that the Pope came to the States for a bit of hand waving. Petercoffin was there for his arrival. Peter tries to keep the Pope from unnecessarily dredging up the past. The Pope isn’t having it.
This is the second in a series of Pope videos from Mr. Coffin. The first is a classic.
Jodie of Vprincess is definitely riding a wave here (you know, that new wave of campaign girl pop jamz), but she sounds like a Disney heroine and pretty much nails it, so we forgive her for being a little bit tardy to the party.
Peter coffin does, then doesn’t, then does again wish that he were a polygamist is this electropop itemization of the pros, cons, material costs of polygamy. Sounds fun don’t it?
This one’s been going around for a while, but it’s so spot on that it deserves a second look if you’ve seen it, and definitely a first look if you haven’t. I take slight umbrage at the “Douche Bag Summer Games in sunny Santa Monica” comment, but I guess if we’re calling spades spades, let’s be bi-coastal about it.
