Last time on iChannel, I met his new neighbor and she ended up stealing his phone (backstory: “I” is the name of the protagonist in this webseries. One day he woke up to find his life being somehow broadcast to the internet. Now he’s faced with the question of whether or not his life is worth watching. More here.) I’s gotta pitch the bread campaign today, but he doesn’t have a pitch and he doesn’t have his phone. As such, things get a little analog in this one.
Maybe none of this makes any sense yet, but I think this is one of the best shows on the internet right now (and so do others) so catch up and then join in!
“Ahab” by MC Lars is like Reading Rainbow with a beat, perfect for simultaneous dancing and learning. Plus this video is really rad, full of creative DIY sets and props and creatures, one big neon shambling adventure. Good fun.
Our resident political activist and murderer, AskaChola, is participating in tonight’s CNN/YouTube Republican Debate. You might think she’d be interested in Mitt Romney’s stance on immigration, or Giuliani’s feelings about gun control, but the Chola doesn’t pull punches. She’d like to know how each candidate philosophically justifies killing. How does the Chola justify it? Hard core nihilism.
We’ll be performing a routine maintenance tonight between 11:00pm-11:30pm PST. Revver.com, the Revver API, and all associated services (including media serving i.e. embedded videos) will be unavailable for about ten minutes during that time. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience!
I’m pretty sure there’s something in the Revver Member Agreement that says we don’t bow to the demands of terrorists, but Nalts backed us into a corner with this video threatening our beloved monkey. Yes, using child soldiers is low, and yes, we’ve stooped even lower by rewarding such practices and giving Nalts what he desired. Oh well. Don’t go getting any ideas now, we’ve hired a team to protect the monkey ’round the clock.
We know it’s possible to take people with absolutely no musical skill and arrange their noise making in a way that produces music. People can make music out of animal sounds and city noises, so the sounds of people strumming single notes must not be that hard to work with. What makes this video interesting is the visual complement to the audio. Here the editing program acts as musical instrument and performer, and the people become just individual strings and keys.
Sit back and have a look at and a listen to Anton Hecht’s arrangement.
Christine from Happy Slip takes us home to have Thanksgiving with her crazy family, and it’s just as entertaining as you might expect. While her situation is pretty unique, there’s definitely something universal in the way her family holiday devolves into a chaotic, albeit fun and loving, mess. Happy Thanksgiving from Revver!
We’ll be performing a routine maintenance on our load balancers tonight between 11:00pm-11:30pm PST and both Revver.com and the Revver API will be unavailable for a few minutes during that time. Media serving (embeds, widgets etc.) will not be affected. Thanks for your patience!
Jerry and Orrin Zucker make these awesome moving collage videos about various random things that happen to them. Jerry writes, narrates, and scores; Orrin animates and directs. What comes out the other end is kind of like This American Life meets a weird dream you had last night (sorry, no link). The thing is, it totally works.
This week’s LA weekly features a cover story examining the evolving relationship between talent and talent agent in the age of online video. The article focuses on the rise of web talent divisions and “online agents” at agencies like UTA, and has some interesting discussion on the business of web video for creators. Revver users Handsome Donkey and Barely Political (Obama Girl), among others, are included along with several embedded Revver videos, so make sure to check it out.
