Revver is proud to have the most robust, flexible, and full-featured API in the video sharing space. It’s so powerful, in fact, that it’s powering the Revver.com website, just as it could power yours. Revver succeeds when you, our creators and sharers, succeed at promoting your content — whether it be on personal blogs, social networking sites, or websites built using the API, JavaScript Widget, or standard embed grab codes. What matters here is your content, creativity, and brand — we’re just here to help you promote it and earn a living doing what you love.
All tools we provide are built with a mind towards allowing you to customize the appearance to promote your brand. In the coming days, we’ll be adding documentation showing you how to insert your own logo on the Revver Flash player just as you can on the Revver widget today.
Many of you are using Revver to host your shows or syndicate Revver videos on your website. We know it’s important to you to be able promote these shows on social networks, etc. If you own your own domain, you can white label Revver embeds for the widest possible reach by using a little thing called a DNS CNAME Record or alias. An alias is typically used when multiple domains share the same IP address, but you can also create an alias as a subdomain such as flash.yourdomain.com to point to flash.revver.com, giving you the opportunity to brand the standard embed grab codes to match your website’s domain.
As an example, I’m going to demonstrate how to set this up using a parked domain on Godaddy.com.
- First, log in to your account and click on the domain you wish to add an alias to.
- There will be a section titled “Total DNS Control” in the bottom left hand side. Click on “Total DNS Control and MX Records.”
- Click on “Add New CNAME Record”
- Enter “flash” (no quotes) for the Alias Name, and “flash.revver.com” (no quotes) for the Host Name.
That’s it. In a few hours, the DNS changes should propagate and you can now point to anything on flash.revver.com from flash.YOURDOMAIN.com. Now you can change the src code in the embeds
from http://flash.REVVER.com/player/1.0/player.swf
to http://flash.YOURDOMAIN.com/player/1.0/player.swf.
Voila! You can’t even tell the video is from Revver. Total white label! This method should work no matter where you want to embed a video - on social networking sites, blogs, etc.
Happy sharing!
Revver goes to Congress
Revver’s CEO, Steven Starr, is speaking on a panel tomorrow at the State of the Net Conference in Washington, DC. He’ll be joining Jim DeLong (Progress & Freedom Foundation), Rob Pegoraro (The Washington Post) and Pam Samuelson (Berkeley Center for Law & Technology) for a discussion about User-Generated Content and the copyright issues raised by the increasing popularity of mashups on the internet.
The State of the Net Conference is hosted by the Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee, a diverse group of public interest, non profit and industry groups working to educate the Congress and the public about important Internet-related policy issues.
February 2005 marked the Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee’s inaugural State of the Net Conference, bringing technology and the Internet to the forefront of debate on Capitol Hill. Now approaching its third year, this annual full-day conference has become the premier forum to discuss technology trends and the enormous challenges which lawmakers, industry leaders, and citizens must confront and resolve.
Largely unregulated, the global, decentralized Internet has matured and today demands a new and imaginative regulatory framework — one that is only beginning to be shaped. The State of the Net Conference offers attendees a chance to track and influence policy trends in this field.
The 3rd annual State of the Net Conference will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency. Located on Capitol Hill and drawing strong participation from government officials and industry leaders, the Conference is the perfect setting to connect with stakeholders in the Internet’s growth and development.
Revver is proud to be a part of this important discussion. We applaud the work of the Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee in bridging the gap between technologists, lawmakers and internet users.
Video of the Day: Ninja Kids

Call child services! Wait, nevermind, these kids kick ass. After the brief popularity of “parent-child divorces,” it’s nice to see that families have reverted to the old fashioned way of settling disputes.

Tom Dickson is his name, and turning your most durable household objects into a fine powdery dust is his game. Don’t stop believing in your boy Tom Dickson, cause he’ll never cease to amaze and astound as long as he’s manning the wheel of the will it blend campaign. Tape measure? Pulverized. Your open-mouthed disbelief? Also pulverized. This blender is the real deal, and we fear the day it gets wise and starts a war on the human race.

Forbes profiles the 25 top web celebs
When even Forbes recognizes videobloggers for being famous, you know we’re onto something with this whole internet thing.
The Face of fame is changing. The ranks of the world’s celebrities used to be dominated by millionaire actors, athletes and musicians, but the Internet has leveled the playing field. A kid with a video camera has access to as large an audience as the biggest Hollywood star. A mom with a blog can attract more readers than a best-selling author. And an opinionated entrepreneur can become a guru to millions.
Congrats to the 3 Revverites on the list!
#1: Jessica Lee Rose (lonelygirl15)
#11: Ze Frank
and of course, The Ninja.

Video of the Day: Bigfoot’s unsavory ways
Share this video.
Warning: This video is creepy and may not be suitable for younger viewers
Bigfoot is best known as being a monster in the literal, rather than the figurative, sense. Sure, he’s a big-footed, hairy monster - but what’s he like? Is he mean? Timid? Friendly? Apparently a little too friendly. Dutch West’s compelling black comedy exposé about bigfoot’s monstery tendencies adds yet another dimension to the Bigfoot legend, revealing a side of Bigfoot that would chill even the most zealous Bigfoot enthusiast’s hot pursuit.
Check out more of Dutch West’s black comedy here.
Myspace update
Hey folks. No hard news yet on the MySpace thing. We should know more tomorrow. But a few of you have written in asking what you can do to help get Revver back up and running on MySpace.
First of all, there’s an interesting discussion going on over at Mashable. Why don’t you add your comments there? We’re interested in hearing more about what you guys think of this and what the community really wants. You can digg the story here.
And of course, you can let MySpace know you want Revver back by sending them emails and posting bulletins. Remind MySpace why you’ve chosen Revver.
Revver was built to support independent creators on the web. We have one of the most artist-friendly member agreements of all video-sharing sites and we share our revenue with the creators 50/50. We also employ a diligent screening process for all the content on our site. All videos go through human review before being published. We do not allow copyright infringement on Revver.
Make sure MySpace knows you want them to be an open platform and that you shouldn’t be forced into sharing videos from sites that don’t reward the artists.
